The Behavioral Health Care Manager manages psychiatric and chemical dependency facility-based treatment through telephonic or written review from providers. Using appropriate screening criteria, knowledge and clinical judgment the Care Manager assesses patient needs and assures that medically necessary treatment is provided in a quality, cost-effective manner. The Care Manager follows guidelines to refer cases to Medical Advisors. The Care Manager will possess and demonstrate skills in psychiatric and chemical dependency assessment, negotiation, coordination, implementation, case planning, monitoring, and evaluating; demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualified candidates must have a current, unrestricted Connecticut license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT), Clinical Psychologist, or Registered Nurse and 3-5 years experience with facility-based psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment is preferred or any combination of experience which would provide an equivalent background. Previous experience in Case Management or Utilization Review preferred.   Managed care experience and previous experience in case management/utilization review preferred.  MS Windows skills are a must.
